Aromatic Basmati Rice

  • 1 1/2 cup Basmati Rice
  • 2 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 pods Green Cardamon
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 pinch Saffron About 20 threads
  • 1 tbsp Oil


  • In a pot on High, combine all the ingredients except the Basmati Rice.
  • Once the water begins to boil, add the Basmati Rice.
  • Cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and leave it alone for 25 minutes.
  • Enjoy!


If you're pressed for time or are multitasking, you could save a step by combining all the ingredients together and then bring it to a boil. Separating the steps gives the oils in the spices more time to be released in the water and absorbed into the rice. If you don't have one or more of the spices, just leave it out. It'll still turn out great!
