Making a pot of Basmati rice is just like any other rice but making a pot of aromatic basmati rice is a treat in on itself. It’s the difference between going to a cheap Indian Lunch Buffet and going to a white linen Indian Dinner. Making it better doesn’t take any additional work, it just takes a few more spices.
Aromatic Basmati Rice
- 1 1/2 cup Basmati Rice
- 2 1/2 cup Water
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- 5 whole cloves
- 5 pods Green Cardamon
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 pinch Saffron About 20 threads
- 1 tbsp Oil
- In a pot on High, combine all the ingredients except the Basmati Rice.
- Once the water begins to boil, add the Basmati Rice.
- Cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and leave it alone for 25 minutes.
